Last Wednesday i had a crash on my bus....a good crash, i wiped out a Land rover freelander after walloping it in the back. Anyway, the crash was caused by a black Peugeot 306 going through a red light at about 40 mph and the land rover slamming on so it never got broad sided. I found out that a bus doesn't stop as quickly as a car!! the police werent going to come as they considered it not worthy enough, until the chap in the land rover told them that he wanted them down as there were injuries and he also mentioned he was an ex high ranking police officer. When the police came we told them that the passenger in the land rover had managed to get the number of the peugeot, they checked it out and it was local to Hull. I was informed that as he had made off it was an arrestable offence for him as there were injuries and he hadnt left any details.
The police telephoned me on the night to say that they had been round to his house but he wasnt in(suprise suprise, i wonder if he had had a drink) and they had left a letter for him to contact them.giving him time to get his story together. yesterday i gets a call back, he had contacted them and told them that it was a momentary lack of concentration and he must have seen the green filter light and thought this was the light for him to proceed so they werent going to prosecute him but just ask him to take a driver improvement course. the good news came next........................I was also going to be sent on one too as in their opinion i hadnt left enough room to stop!!! I was going through a traffic light which was on green, the car infront had no hazards infront of him so i had no reason to think he would perform an emergency stop, the road was greasy and some twat had just come through a red light, but NO im in the wrong. summat stinks me thinks. the guy in the peugeot has FAILED TO STOP AFTER AN ACCIDENT, FAILED TO OBSERVE A TRAFFIC SIGNAL, and by his own admission never saw the red light, which to my mind is DRIVING WITHOUT DUE CARE AND ATTENTION. i wonder what he does for a living? police officer maybe? I also want to know how i can be sent on a course when they never took any measurements at the scene so how do they know wha\t my distance or speed was as the police themselves said that there were contributing factors as to why i never stopped in time.

Ho Ho Ho
Today James went to bransholme centre and whilst he was there he noticed there was a roadshow type thing from KCFM. He heard them say something about a secret santa and if you approached him and said ho ho ho you got £50. So James being James thought, I will have some of that, he heard that santa would be around in about an hour and a half so he hung around for an hour and a half. He spotted the santa and went up to him and in his best christmas voice said Ho Ho Ho, santa turned around and said back Ho Ho Ho. Where is my fifty quid thought James, The answer was..... there was no fifty quid cos the secret santa will be around in a weeks time!!!!! what a wally.

Nearly sweet revenge.
I forgot to mention on here the rugby match that took place last week between Bilton sullys and Beverley braves, James now plays for sullys and it was Beverley that he played for previously and where he was coming home crying with frustration every week because he was being totally overlooked and basically told he was rubbish by the new coach. Well anyway, Sullys are no world beaters and Beverley seem to think they are a bit above most teams in the league and winning is the be all and end all of it for them.
The game itself looked like being a walkover when at about 15 minutes to kick off we only had 11 players with some leaving it late to arrive whilst Beverley were going through their paces in warm up and looking very sharp. Sullys warm up was a bloody mess, for some reason they couldnt even pass a ball along the line without dropping it and I must admit I feared the worst, Anyway when the game started sullys got a breakaway and one of the lads went full length of the pitch to touchdown and with the kick successful we led 6-0. James was having his usual steady game that he has been putting in lately, nothing flashy but just a good solid game, he tackled well, he ran the ball in well and even blocked a good kick through from one of beverleys representative players and made a good break. I was really proud of him and he never took a backward step all game against a team that obviously gave him a little bit of stick cos they knew him. Beverley came back and led 18-6 at half time and I was really dreading the second half because the biggest tool in their armour is their fitness which isnt a big plus for sullys. Well, with 5 minutes to go the score was Beverley 18 Bilton 16 and we really had them worried, we had a 4 man overlap on one wing but one of our players tried to go up the middle instead of throw the ball out wide for what would have been a certain try. Beverley scored a late try and finally won 22-16 But the performance was brilliant and the lads really tried their best. At the end the coach of beverley came up to me shook my hand and said your lad had a good game, i said yeah thats what can happen when you dont have all the confidence knocked out of you and you play with a bit of belief. he just looked down and walked away.

idiots.
i read a letter in the hull daily mail a few days ago saying how buses should be restricted to 15 mph around the city centre because the crossing near st stephens is very dangerous. this letter went on to say that the writer had seen a young mum pushing a pram across the crossing having to rush across the road because a bus came from round the blind bend and had to slam his brakes on for the woman, whom he said was crossing on a red light.
Now let me pick this to pieces, firstly, the crossing isnt dangerous as it probably gives pedestrians the longest crossing time of any crossing in hull, a good 2 minutes at least, secondly what a bloody idiot for crossing on a red light, and not only for herself but also pushing a pram and not only was she stupid for doing this on a red light but also when at the writers own admission there is a blind bend!!! I wouldnt mind knocking her over and killing her but i might get a bit upset at killing the kid. A little further into the letter he said about how yes he knows people shouldnt cross on red lights, but they do!!!! what a sodding stupid thing to say. How often as a driver am I sat at a crossing on a red light with absolutely nothing coming? but do I think oh bollocks im not waiting im going to go through.......no i dont so why if people are stood at a crossing with a blind bend do they think it safe to cross, PILLOCKS. about a year ago there was a lad killed at the junction of ferensway and brook street, aparently he was playing chicken with the buses as i heard, for a few weeks later there were flowers pinned to the railings and people were still dodging across in front of buses at the exact spot. I lose count at the number of times each day i have to brake or sound my horn at pedestrians crossing on red lights without even looking or even bothered by the presence of an approaching bus. these are bloody big vehicles and it isnt as if we can sneak up on you.

The Rev Luke Smith
Everyone here knows my views on religion so it must come as a total shock that I am actually praising a vicar. Last Monday I had the misfortune to attend my second funeral since September, this time was for Gary, My sister in laws former boyfriend and the dad of her two children. Anyway, the same vicar was taking the service as did the last one, my dads. This vicar is an absolutely marvellous man and does the service in such a way that takes all the grief out of it and he has a very calming manner.
But the main reason I am writing this is because of one sentence that he said. Quite often I have heard it said, if there is a god why does he let people suffer so much (Gary died of cancer and really suffered) and I have heard all the answers by religious people of god works in mysterious ways, and it is all part of his plan etc etc, But to me this is just obviously people trying to guess or to justify their belief in "god".
But no The Rev Smith said "People often ask me how can god do this, how can he let people suffer". And the next thing he said was brilliant, it was so simple and was the first time I have heard a vicar answer it with such clarity. He simply said...."I answer them by saying, I don't know, I have no answer". He was honest and didn't try to "fob us off" with a well worn guess at why.
now if there were more vicars like him there might be more people in the congregation.
I said to him outside the chapel, this is the second funeral you have done the service for that I have attended in the last few months, please don't take it the wrong way but i hope its a bloody long time before I see you again. He remembered my dads funeral......ah yes he said, the miserable old so and so, I remember......................That's my kind of vicar.

R.I.P GARY
We were woken at 4am this morning by a telephone call from Tracy's mum to tell us that gill's (tracys sister) ex boyfriend and the father of her 2 kids had lost his long fight against cancer. Even though gill had split from gary a few years ago and is now married to someone else they had always stayed pretty close having the children as a common factor, Gill had been doing a lot for gary lately as he was really suffering and apparently she has taken the news really badly, The hard work is going to start now trying to bring the kids to terms with the fact that they no longer have a dad, he was only about a year or two older than me.....makes you think doesnt it.

What a lovely car!!
Took the car for its MOT today, of course it was never going to fail on much cos of the way that i treat it, lovingly and with great care whenever i drive it anywhere! I have been having a slight problem with my headlights since september, basically I havent had any, my high beam works and my side lights work so I have been driving with side lights and fogs, I checked for the fuse but it was fine so I thought it was something more sinister, anyway I booked it in for this repair and the MOT, I gets a call at lunch time to say that the car has sailed through the MOT just needing a new wiper blade which they have fitted........................and oh by the way the reason your lights didnt work was cos the bulbs had blown!!!!!!!! I cant understand how they have both blown at the same time but anyway they are fine now, I did feel a wally though. so thats me sorted for another year.

Right....im back properley now
I havent been on here much lately due to not having much time and not being able to get on the bloody computer cos of kids, so, here is a bit of an update. We had an internment service for dads ashes at chanterlands crematorium when he was put to rest with mam. The thing that seemed so hard to take was the fact that all through my life I have always known dad as someone who always went for the best. if he had a choice of 2 suites one costing £250 and one costing £1000 and they both looked the same he would have gone for the £1000 cos as he used to say, you get what you pay for so this one must have been better quality, it seemed a little hard for me to take knowing this, that he ended up in a plastic jar that resembled a quality street jar, i looked at it and thought is this all hes worth? Martin did a great job of saying a few words as he lowered him in with mam it was very simple but very emotional.
I have decided i am going to go to college and see if i can keep my brain a little active, Allan has got me a prospectus and I am thinking about a health and safety course.
we are starting to think of xmas and are starting to get the kids presents, we have decide to splash out on brian a little this year and get him a laptop as he doesnt get as many treats as what "little shit" does (that is james if no one guessed). James has had a few weeks off rugby after he got a very bad dead leg.....i never realised that a dead leg could be as serious as his was, he was on crutches for 2 and a half weeks and it was only the skill of the physio that got his leg straight again. He had his first game back last week after about 6 weeks, it was against west hull and he got beat 64 0 but as silly as it seems with a score that size in favour of the other team it was the best game i have ever seen him play.
The car is in for the MOT on monday so I dare say thats going to cost me something, Right i will leave it at that for now and will be back in a day or two

3 HANDSOME CHAPS
This is probably the best photo of me and Dad together, in fact its probably one of the only ones!! It was taken at James christening in the green man pub (the party, not the service) and it is how i want to remember him and not as he became towards the end. And it is also how i hope everyone remembers me and not as i have become !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Dad
Dad finally passed away sunday night/monday morning after what seemed like a very long time of just existing in the nursing home.
I just want to say thank you for instilling in me values which i hope i will always keep, i.e work hard, look after your family and always stand your corner just to name a few....... but most of all thanks for being able to call you dad for 45 years of my life.

A bit of sense
Story in a National Newspaper : Will we still be the Country of choice and still be Gt Britain if we continue to make the changes forced on us by the people from other countries that came to live in Britain because it is the Country of Choice?????? Think about it
. . All I have to say is, when will they do something about MY RIGHTS? I celebrate Christmas, but because it isn't celebrated by everyone, we can no longer say Merry Christmas. Now it has to be Season's Greetings. It's not Christmas holiday, it's Winter Break. Isn't it amazing how this winter break ALWAYS occurs over the Christmas holiday? We've gone so far the other way, bent over backwards to not offend anyone, that I am now being offended. But it seems that no one has a problem with that. This says it all!
This is an editorial written by anBritish citizen, published in a National newspaper He did quite a job; didn't he? Read on, please!IMMIGRANTS,NOT BRITS MUST ADAPT.I am tired of this nation worrying about whether weAre offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on the 7th of the 7th we have experienced a surge In patriotism by the majorityof Brits. However, the disgust about the attacks hadbarely settled when the 'politically correct! ' crowd began complaining aboutthe possibility that our patriotism was offending others. I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming to Britain , Our population is almost entirely made up of descendants of immigrants. (The Danes, Romans ect.) However, there Are a few things that thoseWho have recently come toour country, and apparently some born here, need to understand. This idea of the Brits being aMulticultural communityhas served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity. As Britain 's we Have our own culture, ourown society, our own language and our own lifestyle. This culture has been developed over centuries of struggles, trials, and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom. We speak ENGLISH, not Indian, Urdu, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language Therefore, if you wish to become partof our society, learn the language!' Land of Hope & Glory' is our motto. This is not some Christian, right wing, political slogan We adopted this motto because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display iton the walls of our schools. If GodOffends you, then I suggest youConsider another part of the world as your new home, because God is partOf our culture. If the 'Union Jack' flag offends you, oryou don't like our QUEEN, then youshould seriously consider a moveto another part of this planet. Weare happy with our culture and have no desire to change, and we reallydon't care how you did things whereyou came from. This isOUR COUNTRY,our land, and our lifestyle. Our Laws give every citizen theright to express his opinion and we will allow you every opportunity to do so!But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about our flag, our lifestyle our government, or ourway of life, I highly encourage youtake advantage of one other great BRITISH freedom, THE RIGHT TO LEAVE.It is Time for Gt. Holidays
We are at present in Norfolk where we have ventured to try out our new caravan for a full week. I haven't actually got a weeks holiday from work but it is my long weekend (Thursday to Tuesday inclusive) so I took 3 lieu days.....Tuesday, Wednesday for this week and Wednesday for next week so that we could have a week away.
We were slightly disappointed when we arrived because we thought we had booked for the actual holiday village which is called long beach, but we are only on the long beach estate and we are basically in a field. However we have had a great time so far. We went to the Cromer carnival day on Wednesday and saw the Red Arrows perform an air display and then we watched the parade on the night (was very much like our lord mayors parade). yesterday we went onto the Norfolk Broads and spent 5 hours on a boat, James drove for most of the time and did a good job. We then went back to our friends caravan (this is the couple we bought our van off) and had a barbecue. We have today been through to Yarmouth but it isn't the best of towns and is basically like Bridlington and we don't like Brid much!!!!.
We are going to spend a day by the broads again tomorrow and whilst me and James sit and fish Tracy is going to look around the shops in Wroxham, We saw a brilliant barbecue in one of the shops yesterday, It was only £59 but is a gas powered one, it has got a sturdy wooden trolley, two burners and comes with a griddle so we intend to buy it tomorrow and pack it in the boot to bring home so i can build it. The weather so far has been very good, we haven't had much rain (a couple of showers in the last couple of days and a torrential thunder storm today which only lasted 15 minutes or so and apart from this it has been quite bright and sunny, Tracy even got sunburned yesterday and I had to buy a cowboy hat to save my head from burning.

Dirty Bastards
So, according to a Conservative survey, the hospitals in this country are absolutely over ridden with infestations such as rats, mice, maggots etc etc.
How often do you hear people say "it smells like hospital". you used to hear this a lot whenever people smelt disinfectant, but now a hospital smells of.........................................nothing at all.
Well, I have a solution for all the politicians and beurocrats who want to get back to a clean hospital service again. It is such a simple solution and it took all of about 1 second for me to come up with the answer. Let us stop worrying about cost all the time and go for quality, we will all have heard of the saying, you get what you pay for, so why not go for a really radical way of doing things....are you ready?.......Lets kick all the cleaning contract firms out of the hospitals and employ proper cleaners that are assigned to a certain ward and let them keep their own ward clean, you know, like we used to years ago when a hospital smelt of bloody disinfectant and MRSA and C-dif were unheard of and how about another suggestion, lets get the old style matron re instated to run the wards. like I think I have said before not all progress is good. so let us see the people in charge admit they got it wrong and for once put peoples treatment and lives before a budget.

First trip out in our caravan.
We have just enjoyed our first weekend away in our "new" caravan. we only went to burton constable holiday park which is only at sproatley but it was a thoroughly enjoyable weekend. I took the van there on thursday as i was working on friday until 6 o clock. When I finished work I came home and picked Tracy and Brian up took them to the van and they just had to walk in as everything was in place and we were only charged £3 for leaving it set up for the night so it made sense to do it that way. whilst they were settling in to our home for the weekend I went back to bilton and picked James up from his rugby training. We took the dog, but to be honest he doesnt really like being chained up so we might not take him again but we had no one to look after him. We were going to come home on sunday because Tracy was at work on monday morning but I said why dont we stay until monday and i will take you to work from here. We came home sunday to pick her work stuff up and also dropped Brian off at home with the dog as he was going to the cinema last night with his friend so he looked after the dog at home and we went back. There isnt a lot at the campsite but it is a brilliant place to relax and the fishing lake is brilliant, me and james sat fishing til about 9 30 sunday night and he has had a rod in the water nearly all the weekend, he has caught 70 something fish over the course of the weekend. The caravan itself is brilliant and it has all the mod cons you need like full cooking facilities, a shower, toilet, hot and cold running water, and a fridge. We had some friends come stay over on Saturday night when we had a few drinks and something to eat (they brought a chilli). There were 7 of us in the van altogether (2 couples in the 2 double beds and 3 kids in the awning, there was ample room. Our next outing is when we take it to Yarmouth for a week, we booked it the other week and it is costing us £126 for a week, at those prices the van will pay for itself in no time.

No need for it Justin
Yesterday for the first time this season Rovers actually managed to kill a team off and for the first time in a long time we put in a decent performance after the performances of late, which have been to be honest......shit.
But what has upset me about yesterday and spoilt it a little bit was the comment by Justin Morgan afterwards that Michael Dobson was the best number 7 in the city, Now to me this seemed like a direct swipe at James Webster who has just signed for Dull fc. I like most Rovers fans will hope that webbo does well in his future career and I will even applaud him when he takes to the field on Sunday, I think we owe him that much after what he did for us.I dont know why Morgan had to pass a comment like that after all it was Rovers who got rid of Webbo and not the other way around. I hope Webbo can let this remark go over his head it did seem a little nasty to me and I cant see why Morgan wants to slag Webbo off like that.

The wheels on my house go round and round
Last weekend we went camping to Burton Constable campsite, I was really suprised at the size of the place as a small field was all i was expecting. The site is like a lot we have stayed on in Cornwall and has the biggest fishing lake I have ever seen. It was the first time we have used our new tent which we purchased off Ebay and it was bloody massive. Anyway, we went with my nephew Kevin and all his clan, they were staying in thier caravan and I said to Tracy, I think its time we thought about moving from a tent to a caravan, On Tuesday evening we went to view one and bought it there and then, so we are now fully fledged members of the pikey community!! Our new "van" cost us £1700 and is immaculately clean, it also comes with a giant awning which is bigger than the caravan and has two sleeping pods attached to the outside, so with the 4 berth caravan plus 2 pods we should be able to sleep 8 at least and of course there is also room in the awning as well! we are hoping to try it out in the next couple of weeks, I am going for a tow bar for the car on monday and we will get a few things together that we need then its no stopping us.

Hook Line And Sinker.
when i was a kid i loved to go fishing, i spent nearly every day sat by some water or other drowning maggots!! well, last year i acquired 3 rods and a little bit of tackle (for £20)........didnt ask too many questions!! I got james and Brian a telescopic rod each for christmas a couple of years ago, Brian only went once last year and wasnt too impressed with it but James really enjoyed it and we have started going quite regularly now, we have been going to the fishing lake which was built on bransholme about 8 years ago and it is brilliant, as everything is with me and james it has developed into a little bit of a competition but the little sod is starting to get the better of me, each time he goes he is catching about 5 fish and im only getting two or 3. James went on his own last week and managed to catch 15 which isnt bad when he hasnt been going for long and is still learning, so we might have a budding champion in our midst. I think im going to have to start cheating a little so I can beat him or at the least chuck him in.

Wembley here we come
The postman knocked on the door this morning with an envelope to be signed for, this envelope contained me and james tickets for wembley for saturdays final Hull City v Bristol City, £85 for two tickets but it is not every day City get to wembley.....infact this is the first time in their history so I guess its worth it.................COME ON THE TIGERS!!!!

one outta two aint bad
We sat down yesterday afternoon for a full afternoon of sport, Hull city had to win and stoke city lose for the dream to happen, city in the premier league for the first time in their 104 year history. Unfortunately it never went to plan and we lost while stoke won, so we now go into the playoffs so we still have a chance, then the big one........the derby game, rovers v hull at Cardiff, a game which in my opinion should be scrapped, why the blooody hell anyone should have to go 250 miles to see a derby (money that's why)anyway we won again, this is starting o get monotonous so come on hull give us a game, surely you must win a derby game soon ha ha ha ha, i remember when we got promoted all the hull fans saying ah well at least that is 8 easy points a season. well we have played 6 times since we were promoted and we have won the last 3 and the score so far is played 6 won 4 lost 2.

we will all be living in shit street!!!!
Another one of my mams favourite sayings, "we will all be living in shit street by next week if things carry on like this". Never has that saying been more true!
Diesel is now about 120p a litre give or take a penny or so and expected to go to 150 by the summer, groceries are therefore going up as a result, energy bills are soaring, I heard yesterday if your car is older than 7 years old it could cost an extra £240 to tax from next year. WELCOME TO RUSSIA COMRADE. we will soon be seeing queues outside grocery shops trying to get scraps of food, and the black market will be rife with bacca cigs booze etc etc, I am no economist and to be honest all I have worried about in the past is how much have we got to last us the month and is it less than what we need to pay out to live for that month, up to now we have just about managed it. before Christmas when we went shopping we spent about 85 to 110 pounds a week at tescos depending on if we needed wash powder and the like on certain weeks but they were the sort of upper and lower levels that we went to, in the last 6 weeks or so we have not yet been below 110 pounds and it is often nearer to 125,and it is only going to get worse. The french wouldnt stand for this they would be rioting and demanding action but what do we do? bugger all except whinge about it thats what.
Did Tony Blair see all this coming and get out at just the right time? or was he just lucky?, all this has not just happened in the last year or so it must be a build up.....OK the oil is an outside thing because it is from abroad but all the rest of the shit we are in must be down to bad management of the countries finances over the last few years, ie credit crunch, interest rates, mortgage fears and the like has Mr Brown been shit on from a great height and does he now wish he had stayed in his previous job, which incidentally was.................................yep that's right, so maybe he deserves all this for his bloody incompetence, like i said I'm not an economist so I don't understand but all I do understand is that we are being shafted at every turn.
Tracy is going to Madrid for a weekend soon to see a Spanish girl who worked as a locum doctor for the surgery last year I have told her to ask what the job market is like for nurses over there, and believe me I'm seriously considering pissing off somewhere because we cant carry on as we are. Last Sunday I put £50 worth of diesel into my car and it never even touched 3/4 on the fuel gauge, ridiculous.
So anyway if your passing shit street drop in and see us we will be at number 6.

HAPPY SAINT GEORGES DAY
I'M BACK...........
You didn't think I would let today pass without commenting on it did you?
no one is more proud to be English than me (even if by some nasty accident on daddies side i am part Scottish)
We are watching this country go to the dogs, inflation, credit crunch, unemployment, immigration, crime, just to name a few things. Anyway I'm still proud to be English and I always will be, I noticed today how more and more radio and TV stations are doing pieces regarding st Georges day, Is this the start of us English fighting back. For so long we have been told we have to be quiet so as not to offend people and I think that at long last we might be starting to realise that we do have a right to be heard, I think we should start to see parades and events springing up over the next few years after all we do celebrate st Patrick's day and as an Englishman this offends me, why should we celebrate someone Else's day and not ours I'm not a bloody paddy (thank god, cant imagine anything worse) bloody independence day rammed down our throats and you know my view on the bastard yanks.

not very good
Another rather inept performance by the robins. why oh why havent we got someone in the middle capable of making a decicion? in last weeks game against dull fc when we had a penalty right infront of the posts why did we not go for the two points, just the same as yesterday when we again got an easy penalty and never took the two points on offer surely they must have realised that it was probably going to be a close game, we also never went for the couple of easy drop goals that were on offer when the giants had pulled it back to 24 24 instead we decided to go for 2 desperate efforts with a minute or so left on the clock, surely it is best to go for an earlyish drop goal and then build on the points lead and not leave it until you are in the desperation stakes. we must improve soon. one good point though is that rufus has been voted the best mascot in super league

Rufus update
I have mentioned rufus and his bike on here and i think i said he seems to get dafter every week, well in todays derby game he made his entrance on..............wait for it..........a hover craft, he even allowed the dull fc mascot to hop on the back. what next?
Summer rugby!
In a manner which only my mother could have pulled off I would like to say........summer rugby be buggered.
Today was the first derby game of the season and it was played in the most attrotious conditions that I can remember at a sporting event for years.
Rovers won the game by 11 points to 10 but that was only to be expected and the score was a foregone conclusion, however the weather was so bad that in the after match interviews, Dull fc head coach Peter Sharp said that apart from 2 of his players picking up injuries he also had 2 players suffering from hyperthermia.
It was so funny to see the south sea islander stanley gene trying to deal with the cold, I think winter to them means temperatures of about 20 degrees!!

The derby game
Friday sees the first derby game of the new season, it is to be played at craven park with a 12:00 kick off.
The game is played on good friday so at least Dull fc will understand how it feels to be crucified at easter.

Bye bye karoo
I have this week telephoned kc and karoo and cancelled my telephone line and my internet subscription, I asked them how much it would cost for me to just keep a line for the internet to operate off and was told that I couldn't do this and I would have to subscribe to their lowest tariff, talk 1, which costs £10.50 per month plus my subscription of £17.98 per month for karoo broadband, I told them that i did not wish to do this as i didn't need a line to make calls as we are going to use our mobiles (i get 15 hours of calls allowed a month on my contract and Tracy gets nearly 10 hours) so we don't need a home phone, so i cancelled and we have today been into town and took out a subscription on a mobile wireless modem on the 3 network which costs us £15 per month which is a saving of £13 per month plus we wont get a phone bill dropping on the mat every 3 months. so anyone who rings us will not be able to contact us on our home line after the 7th April and will have to use our mobiles, so if you need the numbers just ring and ask. p .s if you haven't got our new numbers don't bother ringing the old mobiles only numbers given in the last couple of months are valid.

Dad
My dad has just gone back to the home after a few days in hospital after he had a possible stroke, still not quite sure what it was but whatever it was he doesn't look good. we went to see him today and i have never been moved to tears before but i must admit today i was. it was just too much to take to see this once upright, strong, proud man reduced to a breathing corpse sat in a chair......actually no, id like to change that to slumped in a chair. he couldn't be bothered to eat his lunch which was his favourite meal of fish, but even that has had to be minced up as he has been put onto a soft diet. he could just about suck his drink through a straw but even trying to give him this drink was a job in itself. If anyone ever needed proof there isn't a god you just need to look at him, any caring god would take this man and end his suffering and save any last dregs of dignity that he might possibly still have. Its never nice to actually wish your own father dead but its done for the right reason, for the fact that we love him. I really am surprised my mam hasnt taken him to be with her yet.

A game of 2 halves
Never before has that statement been so true as yesterdays game against warrington. I have made the statement that I believe Rovers will this year finish in the top 4 and I stick by that, but after seeing the first half performance I was beginnig to be thankful that there was no relegation!! I now know what the Dull fc fans had to endure last week against Harlequins, we were 28-0 down after 28 minutes and things werent looking good to say the least.
Then came the fight back, we scored a try just before half time and the conversion-a very easy one, which was to prove costly-was missed.
The second half started and we tore the wolves apart with a procession of tries which was only broken by a warrington drop goal and in the end that drop goal was the winner, we pulled back to 28-29 at the final hooter. We could have levelled it if it hadnt been for that idiot ashley klown who ended the game as soon as the hooter went instead of letting the final play be completed which was a drop out under the warrington sticks, depending on where the kick had gone we may have been able to have replied with a long range drop goal. but on the whole i think warrington just about deserved the win and we let our selves down in the first half, man of the match was kris welham and he deserved it for one tackle alone which saved a try in the corner, god knows how he did it but he managed to get his man in touch when it seemed he was certain to score.

Not a bad start.
I havent really had a lot of time to blog lately as all my time seems to have been taken up with work and things around the house, anyway Tracy and the kids are sat watching casualty so I thought I would take the opportunity to post something on here. Rovers have started the season really well and if before the first game I would have had a chance of two wins from the first 3 games I would have snapped your hands off, Leeds, saints and then the dragons away in france arent exactly the start people would have picked but we have come through. Warrington are the next test for us and they are without one of their big close season signings in Matt King so that is a bit of luck, but to be honest the team that Justin has assembled I dont think that luck will play a part this season. Sean Briscoe has really started off well at full back and i cannot see why Peter Sharpe let him go, we have a strong back division now and the four first choice three quarter line is a complete new unit from last year, Jake Webster looks awesome and I think could turn out to be the signing of the season in the whole of super league.
We have virtually a new pack too and a complete change from last season when we didnt seem to have many big lads and got out muscled a lot, dont get me wrong the lads who were there did their best but as the saying goes, a good big un will always beat a good little un!
I think Micky Vella will have a great season because he has willing help around him to share out the work, where as last year he was at times expected to do most of the work on his own, and I believe this will make it easier for him to really show us what he can do.
Of course I have to mention the young lad we have got fresh out of the academy, I think he is about 15 years old, young Stanley!!!!!!! He scored his 100th try for Hull KR the other night in France and what an important try it was too. 100 tries already, not bad for a 12 year old is it?

What a breakdown
I mentioned on here a couple of weeks ago that I had bought a new car, well, My old car was still in good nick apart from a nasty scrape down the back door, so I decided to give it to Gareth's friend Stuart.
Sunday night I got a phone call from Gareth saying that the car had broken down at the traffic lights at Tescos on Beverley road. I went to see if I could do anything but when I got there it stunk of burning and you didn't have to be a brain surgeon to realise that the clutch had burnt out.
I felt a bit bad because I had given him the car and he had got rid of the one he had, When I said this to him he said don't worry this is in better condition than what mine was anyway, Not right now it isn't, I said!!!!!

What a performance.
The mighty Hull KR Have just had their first home game of the season, It was against one of the finest sides that rugby league has ever seen, st helens, We showed that no one is going to enjoy coming to craven park this season as we ran out 24-22 winners. It got a little hairy towards the end after we let saints back into the game a little. At times I did start to wonder if it was going to be like last week when we let a lead slip against leeds. However the boys held on and got a deserved win. 2 points from an opening double against leeds and saints is a bloody respectable return and i stand by my prediction of top 4 for the season.

Little gem
The last couple of weeks I have been taking Tracy for a meal on a Thursday night, When we go out this is what we like to do rather than going into pubs as neither of us is a big drinker and we like to be able to sit and talk and you cant do this in a pub with the music blurting out and the pub full of idiots getting pissed.
We have been going to a restaurant we tried a few months ago and it is lovely, It is on Beverley Road and is a Polish restaurant, the food is very basic but is very tasty. The price is very very reasonable but this isnt the reason we use it, it is just very nice food although it isnt what you might think of eating at first. Would we dream of putting salad onto the same plate as beef and mashed potatoes?
The first time we went I must admit I looked at it and thought I dont think I will like this but I was pleasantly suprised, They dont do much alcohol but you can take your own in which also cuts the cost.
Anyone else wanting to try it, it is on the corner of sculcoats lane next to the next viceroy indian restaurant and is called ochnia. I recommend you try it.

Not a bad start
I went to Leeds on saturday night to see Hull KR take on the reigning champions Leeds Rhinos in the season opener, I kept telling everyone I was hopeful of a win and kept getting told we would be hammered, However I was proved to be correct in my optimism even though we did lose, We were winning with about 7 minutes to go and it was only some very dubious decisions from our favourite referee Mr Silverwood that finished us off.
When we came out of the ground an old man from Leeds said that if we dont finish in the top 4 then there will be four bloody good teams in Super league, which was good coming from an opposing fan.
I dont hold out much hope for this coming week as I believe St Helens are a class apart from the rest of the league but if we can produce the form from the Leeds game then who knows.
I think we have signed a legend in the making in Jake Webster, He is built like Lesley Vainakola and is as fast.

New car
I decided it was maybe time to invest in a new car as ours was looking a little worse for wear. Mainly because some pillock had smashed into the side of it and left a nice bit scrape down the back door and into the rear wing while it was parked (of course they never left any details ).
Anyway, we went to look at cars today and saw some that were quite nice. I had looked at one on the net that really took my fancy and we went to view it this afternoon. It was a Peugeot 406 2.0 diesel. It was slightly older than some we had looked at (y reg 2001) but it only had 40500 miles on the clock and for a diesel this is nothing. The condition of it is immaculate and it was like driving a brand new car, the only thing wrong with it was one of the air blowers had got a little silver cover missing from the adjuster handle(about half a centremetre in length).
I didnt have the money on me as we had only gone to view today so I am going to collect it on tuesday on my day off, so it is off to Leeds on Saturday in it as a test run to see rovers.
i have pasted a picture of the car on here and it doesnt do it credit.

Brians performance
On Tuesday, We went to college to see Brian perform in his groups performance of a play called dreams, this was a sort of collection of sketches about dreams and nightmares, at one point he was dancing as a cheer leader and on another occasion he was in a tutu as a ballet dancer..................... i am saying nothing!!!!
When they took their bows at the end i would say that the loudest cheer was for Brian from quite a few of the girls in the audience, He seems to be getting on well and is enjoying himself. He needs to pass all the exams at the end of this first year on the course he is on which is a tracks course and then he can go onto a performing arts course which is what he really wants to do. He is so quiet and shy yet when he gets on stage he is a totally different person and he seems to grow in confidence and shows no fears.

Bye bye
Ah well another piece of our heritage is being stripped apart, The cream telephone boxes that are as much a part of Hull's identity as a fishing trawler or William Wilberforce are starting to be removed from the streets, I suppose this had to happen one day as the telephones are no longer owned by Hull city council. And with less and less people using the street phones in favour of mobiles. But it just seems a little sad that something as unique as these boxes are going to be gone.

One week away
The Rugby season starts proper for the mighty Rovers next Saturday at Leeds, what a change a year makes. This time last year i was hoping for a good season and was just wanting to see us do well and not disgrace ourselves, well i think we did better than that and claimed some notable scalps, we actually beat four of the teams that finished in the top 6 and we actually beat three of these teams on two occasions (Hull, Huddersfield and Wigan). This season is so different because from hope I now have expectancy and i really am expecting us to finish in or around the playoff places, and i even fancy a cup final appearance,or at least the semis, fingers crossed. I will be going to Leeds not thinking lets hope we keep the score down but this time i honestly do fancy us taking the points.
Get togethers
Over Xmas and the new year and just after, We had a nice little gathering at our house for family and a few friends, We also had the long awaited (since he left school) retirement party for big Trev. Why does it only seem to be that the family now only see each other (as a full gathering) at weddings, funerals and christenings? Wouldnt it be a good idea if maybe a few times a year we all got together and had a knees up? There are six of us (yes i did say 6, was nice to see paul making his first steps back into the fold hopefully). And even most of the "kids" are now married with kids, or at least with kids!! So why cant we all take a turn in having everyone round for a drink and a natter, or even arrange to meet up for a meal somewhere and a drink. We always seemed quite a close family but without the convenience of mam and dads house to meet we dont seem to have that closeness anymore.
Who else thinks this would be a good idea? I know angela will cos any excuse to get pissed!!!!(only joking).

Just a courtesy call....................................
I am sat at my desk and the phone rings. Is Mrs Taylor in please? No Im sorry she is at work, who is calling please? Asks I.
I am sorry i cant tell you that but it is nothing to worry about, it is just a courtesy call from a company she has an account with.
When will she be in please? Asks the woman at the other end of the phone. I am sorry but I am not prepared to tell you unless I know who to tell her called, Im her husband and I can be trusted to pass on a message. Well I cant tell you that, says she.
Well in that case Im not prepared to tell you when she will be in says I, and puts down the phone.
Why is it all these companies act like the bloody secret service, and before anyone quotes me the data protection act, everything we have is in joint names it is just that some accounts have tracys name first and some have mine first, we had this trouble once when wanting to pay off a bank loan. I was the first named account holder so they would not tell her how much was owing, what a load of bollocks.
