New car

I decided it was maybe time to invest in a new car as ours was looking a little worse for wear. Mainly because some pillock had smashed into the side of it and left a nice bit scrape down the back door and into the rear wing while it was parked (of course they never left any details ).

Anyway, we went to look at cars today and saw some that were quite nice. I had looked at one on the net that really took my fancy and we went to view it this afternoon. It was a Peugeot 406 2.0 diesel. It was slightly older than some we had looked at (y reg 2001) but it only had 40500 miles on the clock and for a diesel this is nothing. The condition of it is immaculate and it was like driving a brand new car, the only thing wrong with it was one of the air blowers had got a little silver cover missing from the adjuster handle(about half a centremetre in length).

I didnt have the money on me as we had only gone to view today so I am going to collect it on tuesday on my day off, so it is off to Leeds on Saturday in it as a test run to see rovers.

i have pasted a picture of the car on here and it doesnt do it credit.

Brians performance

On Tuesday, We went to college to see Brian perform in his groups performance of a play called dreams, this was a sort of collection of sketches about dreams and nightmares, at one point he was dancing as a cheer leader and on another occasion he was in a tutu as a ballet dancer..................... i am saying nothing!!!!
When they took their bows at the end i would say that the loudest cheer was for Brian from quite a few of the girls in the audience, He seems to be getting on well and is enjoying himself. He needs to pass all the exams at the end of this first year on the course he is on which is a tracks course and then he can go onto a performing arts course which is what he really wants to do. He is so quiet and shy yet when he gets on stage he is a totally different person and he seems to grow in confidence and shows no fears.

Bye bye

Ah well another piece of our heritage is being stripped apart, The cream telephone boxes that are as much a part of Hull's identity as a fishing trawler or William Wilberforce are starting to be removed from the streets, I suppose this had to happen one day as the telephones are no longer owned by Hull city council. And with less and less people using the street phones in favour of mobiles. But it just seems a little sad that something as unique as these boxes are going to be gone.

One week away

The Rugby season starts proper for the mighty Rovers next Saturday at Leeds, what a change a year makes. This time last year i was hoping for a good season and was just wanting to see us do well and not disgrace ourselves, well i think we did better than that and claimed some notable scalps, we actually beat four of the teams that finished in the top 6 and we actually beat three of these teams on two occasions (Hull, Huddersfield and Wigan). This season is so different because from hope I now have expectancy and i really am expecting us to finish in or around the playoff places, and i even fancy a cup final appearance,or at least the semis, fingers crossed. I will be going to Leeds not thinking lets hope we keep the score down but this time i honestly do fancy us taking the points.

Get togethers

Over Xmas and the new year and just after, We had a nice little gathering at our house for family and a few friends, We also had the long awaited (since he left school) retirement party for big Trev. Why does it only seem to be that the family now only see each other (as a full gathering) at weddings, funerals and christenings? Wouldnt it be a good idea if maybe a few times a year we all got together and had a knees up? There are six of us (yes i did say 6, was nice to see paul making his first steps back into the fold hopefully). And even most of the "kids" are now married with kids, or at least with kids!! So why cant we all take a turn in having everyone round for a drink and a natter, or even arrange to meet up for a meal somewhere and a drink. We always seemed quite a close family but without the convenience of mam and dads house to meet we dont seem to have that closeness anymore.
Who else thinks this would be a good idea? I know angela will cos any excuse to get pissed!!!!(only joking).

Just a courtesy call....................................

I am sat at my desk and the phone rings. Is Mrs Taylor in please? No Im sorry she is at work, who is calling please? Asks I.
I am sorry i cant tell you that but it is nothing to worry about, it is just a courtesy call from a company she has an account with.
When will she be in please? Asks the woman at the other end of the phone. I am sorry but I am not prepared to tell you unless I know who to tell her called, Im her husband and I can be trusted to pass on a message. Well I cant tell you that, says she.
Well in that case Im not prepared to tell you when she will be in says I, and puts down the phone.
Why is it all these companies act like the bloody secret service, and before anyone quotes me the data protection act, everything we have is in joint names it is just that some accounts have tracys name first and some have mine first, we had this trouble once when wanting to pay off a bank loan. I was the first named account holder so they would not tell her how much was owing, what a load of bollocks.
