A game of 2 halves
Never before has that statement been so true as yesterdays game against warrington. I have made the statement that I believe Rovers will this year finish in the top 4 and I stick by that, but after seeing the first half performance I was beginnig to be thankful that there was no relegation!! I now know what the Dull fc fans had to endure last week against Harlequins, we were 28-0 down after 28 minutes and things werent looking good to say the least.
Then came the fight back, we scored a try just before half time and the conversion-a very easy one, which was to prove costly-was missed.
The second half started and we tore the wolves apart with a procession of tries which was only broken by a warrington drop goal and in the end that drop goal was the winner, we pulled back to 28-29 at the final hooter. We could have levelled it if it hadnt been for that idiot ashley klown who ended the game as soon as the hooter went instead of letting the final play be completed which was a drop out under the warrington sticks, depending on where the kick had gone we may have been able to have replied with a long range drop goal. but on the whole i think warrington just about deserved the win and we let our selves down in the first half, man of the match was kris welham and he deserved it for one tackle alone which saved a try in the corner, god knows how he did it but he managed to get his man in touch when it seemed he was certain to score.

Not a bad start.
I havent really had a lot of time to blog lately as all my time seems to have been taken up with work and things around the house, anyway Tracy and the kids are sat watching casualty so I thought I would take the opportunity to post something on here. Rovers have started the season really well and if before the first game I would have had a chance of two wins from the first 3 games I would have snapped your hands off, Leeds, saints and then the dragons away in france arent exactly the start people would have picked but we have come through. Warrington are the next test for us and they are without one of their big close season signings in Matt King so that is a bit of luck, but to be honest the team that Justin has assembled I dont think that luck will play a part this season. Sean Briscoe has really started off well at full back and i cannot see why Peter Sharpe let him go, we have a strong back division now and the four first choice three quarter line is a complete new unit from last year, Jake Webster looks awesome and I think could turn out to be the signing of the season in the whole of super league.
We have virtually a new pack too and a complete change from last season when we didnt seem to have many big lads and got out muscled a lot, dont get me wrong the lads who were there did their best but as the saying goes, a good big un will always beat a good little un!
I think Micky Vella will have a great season because he has willing help around him to share out the work, where as last year he was at times expected to do most of the work on his own, and I believe this will make it easier for him to really show us what he can do.
Of course I have to mention the young lad we have got fresh out of the academy, I think he is about 15 years old, young Stanley!!!!!!! He scored his 100th try for Hull KR the other night in France and what an important try it was too. 100 tries already, not bad for a 12 year old is it?

What a breakdown
I mentioned on here a couple of weeks ago that I had bought a new car, well, My old car was still in good nick apart from a nasty scrape down the back door, so I decided to give it to Gareth's friend Stuart.
Sunday night I got a phone call from Gareth saying that the car had broken down at the traffic lights at Tescos on Beverley road. I went to see if I could do anything but when I got there it stunk of burning and you didn't have to be a brain surgeon to realise that the clutch had burnt out.
I felt a bit bad because I had given him the car and he had got rid of the one he had, When I said this to him he said don't worry this is in better condition than what mine was anyway, Not right now it isn't, I said!!!!!

What a performance.
The mighty Hull KR Have just had their first home game of the season, It was against one of the finest sides that rugby league has ever seen, st helens, We showed that no one is going to enjoy coming to craven park this season as we ran out 24-22 winners. It got a little hairy towards the end after we let saints back into the game a little. At times I did start to wonder if it was going to be like last week when we let a lead slip against leeds. However the boys held on and got a deserved win. 2 points from an opening double against leeds and saints is a bloody respectable return and i stand by my prediction of top 4 for the season.

Little gem
The last couple of weeks I have been taking Tracy for a meal on a Thursday night, When we go out this is what we like to do rather than going into pubs as neither of us is a big drinker and we like to be able to sit and talk and you cant do this in a pub with the music blurting out and the pub full of idiots getting pissed.
We have been going to a restaurant we tried a few months ago and it is lovely, It is on Beverley Road and is a Polish restaurant, the food is very basic but is very tasty. The price is very very reasonable but this isnt the reason we use it, it is just very nice food although it isnt what you might think of eating at first. Would we dream of putting salad onto the same plate as beef and mashed potatoes?
The first time we went I must admit I looked at it and thought I dont think I will like this but I was pleasantly suprised, They dont do much alcohol but you can take your own in which also cuts the cost.
Anyone else wanting to try it, it is on the corner of sculcoats lane next to the next viceroy indian restaurant and is called ochnia. I recommend you try it.

Not a bad start
I went to Leeds on saturday night to see Hull KR take on the reigning champions Leeds Rhinos in the season opener, I kept telling everyone I was hopeful of a win and kept getting told we would be hammered, However I was proved to be correct in my optimism even though we did lose, We were winning with about 7 minutes to go and it was only some very dubious decisions from our favourite referee Mr Silverwood that finished us off.
When we came out of the ground an old man from Leeds said that if we dont finish in the top 4 then there will be four bloody good teams in Super league, which was good coming from an opposing fan.
I dont hold out much hope for this coming week as I believe St Helens are a class apart from the rest of the league but if we can produce the form from the Leeds game then who knows.
I think we have signed a legend in the making in Jake Webster, He is built like Lesley Vainakola and is as fast.
